On 20th October, the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) organized a consensus building workshop at the Armenian office of the United Nations to present the vision of the national policy of the "National Quality Infrastructure Strategy (NQI)" in order to build a consensus and to effectively discuss with regulatory authorities. The main goal of the vision of the presented strategy is aimed at sustainable development of quality infrastructure in 2023-2033 with the plan and implementation of appropriate effective functions of its system components. The workshop was conducted by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO).

More than fifty Representatives from ministry of economy and interested and regulating ministries, quality infrastructure institutions (CJSC "National Body for Standardization and Metrology", SNCO "National Accreditation Body", inspection Body for Market Surveillance) and representatives of interested parties from private sector took part in the workshop. During the workshop the representatives discussed the current strengths and challenges facing the Armenian quality infrastructure field, the strategy vision and its aims, as well as the activities and results for each component of the NQI system, which should be aimed to provide continuing and sustainable development, integration with international activities, covering the market needs, protecting consumer rights, and informing the public in general. f

The workshop was held within the framework of the "Quality Infrastructure Support in Armenia" program that is funded by the European Union (EU) and implemented by the UNIDO.

The purpose of the «Quality Infrastructure Support in Armenia» program is also to develop the potential of metrology to provide stable and internationally recognized services to interested stakeholders in the Republic of Armenia.
