On February 2, Minister of Economy of the Republic of Armenia Gevorg Papoyan met with a delegation led by the World Bank Regional Director for Infrastructure in Europe and Central Asia Charles Cormier.
The session was also attended by Deputy Minister Anushik Avetyan and Head of the Tourism Committee of the Ministry of Economy Lusine Gevorgyan.
During the meeting, the “Crossroads of Peace” initiative and its economic potential were discussed. Minister Papoyan emphasized the role of the World Bank in the implementation of programs that promote regional economic cooperation.
The importance of the World Bank’s participation in the “Crossroads of Peace” Investment Summit, scheduled for 2026, was also discussed. Minister invited Charles Cormier to take part in the Crossroads of Peace Investment Forum, which is set to occur in the country in 2026. The Minister also requested that the invitation be conveyed to the President of the World Bank.
Reference was also made to the “Tourism and Regional Infrastructure Development of Armenia” (TRIP) program, which is aimed at the development of local communities and strengthening Armenia’s position as an attractive and competitive tourist destination.
The parties emphasized the importance of continuing joint efforts and effective cooperation, reaching a mutual understanding on further steps.
