On May 7, Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan and Minister of Health Anahit Avanesyan participated in a conference titled “The Potential and Prospects of Medical Tourism Development in Armenia.” The event was also attended by the High Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs Zareh Sinanyan, Head of the Tourism Committee of the Ministry of Economy Lusine Gevorgyan, as well as representatives from the healthcare and tourism sectors.
“In recent years, medical tourism has experienced significant global growth. In this context, Armenia has all the prerequisites to become an important hub for medical tourism. We already have highly qualified doctors and medical staff, many of whom have received education from leading European and American institutions. We also have internationally accredited medical centers and, of course, competitive prices,” stated Minister Papoyan.
The Minister also emphasized that the Ministry of Economy prioritizes the development of healthcare infrastructure through both public and private investments, the creation of a favorable and secure business environment for companies operating in the sector, and the promotion of Armenia as an international brand in medical tourism.
The conference included discussions on the prospects of developing medical tourism in Armenia, the existing challenges within the sector, and possible solutions to overcome them.
The event was organized through the joint efforts of the Ministries of Economy and Health, initiated by the Tourism Committee and the National Center of Oncology.
