RA Minister of Economy, Gevorg Papoyan, along with Deputy Minister Arman Khojoyan, participated in the event honoring the OIV’s centennial and its 45th World Congress. In his welcoming remarks, Minister Papoyan highlighted the OIV’s mission and reaffirmed Armenia’s commitment to collaborating with international partners to advance the sustainable development of global winemaking.
“Wine is more than just a drink; it is a bridge connecting people, cultures, and economies. We greatly appreciate the OIV's efforts over the past century in uniting wine-producing nations, regulating the industry, and promoting its development,” stated Minister Papoyan.
In his address, he also spoke about Armenia’s rich heritage and ancient traditions in viticulture and winemaking. He noted that Armenian viticulture, designated by the RA government as a priority sector, is currently experiencing a resurgence. Blending millennia-old traditions with modern technology, Armenia now produces high-quality wines that meet international standards.
Gevorg Papoyan and Arman Khojoyan also attended the official ceremony marking the relocation of the OIV’s headquarters to Dijon.
During the congress, Minister Papoyan met with France’s Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Annie Genevard. They discussed opportunities to strengthen Armenian-French cooperation in agriculture. Additionally, the Armenian delegation held productive meetings with ministers from several other countries, exploring potential partnerships in agriculture and winemaking.
