Within the framework of the “Second Community Agricultural Resource Management and Competitiveness” (CARMAC-2) project, implemented by the RA Ministry of Economy with the assistance of the World Bank, 13 wheel tractors and 2 UAZ vehicles were provided to the “Union of Pasture Users” consumer cooperatives in 8 Marzes of Armenia. It is planned to hand over additional 4 wheel tractors to the cooperatives next week.
The RA Deputy Minister of Economy Arman Khojoyan and the Head of CARMAC-2 project Davit Mejlumyan took part in the ceremony of handing over the tractors.
The Deputy Minister Arman Khojoyan noted with satisfaction that the provided agricultural machinery can be immediately used in spring agricultural works and it will contribute to the increase of agricultural efficiency. “Provision of tractors is only a part of the general program, for programs are being implemented in all Marzes of Armenia to introduce irrigation supply systems, which aim at making Armenia’s pastures usable”, the Deputy Minister added.
While presenting the project, the Head of the CARMAC-2 project David Mejlumyan emphasized that the “Union of Pasture Users” consumer cooperatives are provided with the necessary agricultural equipment to increase the stock of animal fodder in communities, as well as the fodder base level. The Government and cooperative make investments in the proportion of 80% and 20%, respectively.
Mkhitar Karapetyan, the mayor of Chambarak community’s Aygut village in Gegharkunik Marz, who was present at the ceremony, thanked on behalf of the community land users for provision of the equipment, noting that the community already receives the 5th tractor within this project framework, which will facilitate in solving problems in a number of agricultural works.
