On March 1, 2021, the RA Minister of Economy Vahan Kerobyan received the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of France to Armenia Jonathan Lacote. The Deputy Minister of Economy Varos Simonyan was also present at the meeting.
The Minister welcomed the Ambassador and note that the Armenian-French relations are of a special friendly nature, as well as thanked the friendly France for being by Armenia’s side during the difficult period and providing humanitarian assistance.
Issues related to the development of the Armenian-French economic cooperation were discussed at the meeting, including issues related to attracting investments and possible financial support.
Both sides emphasized the importance of joint programs implemented in the field of economy. It was noted there is a great potential for economic collaboration and with regard to its realization the expansion of representation of French businesses in our country, the activity of the French Development Agency in Armenia, and ensuring the continuation of implemented programs were underlined.
The interlocutors considered the prospective collaboration in different sectors of economy, including transport, water reservoir construction, agriculture, industry, tourism, public sector digitalization, venture funds, digital innovations, as well as regional communications.
Expressing gratitude for the warm reception, the French Ambassador Jonathan Lacote noted his readiness to closely cooperate with the Government of Armenia with regard to implementation of bilateral programs, further development of the Armenian-French relations, and expansion of economic ties between the two countries.
An agreement was reached to continue intensive work on programs of mutual interest.
