On January 20, 2021, the 8th workshop of the “Coordination platform for programs aimed at sustainable management of RA’s natural fodder areas, pastures and grasslands” took place online, which was attended by representatives of the Ministries related to the field, as well as scientific institutions, local and international non-governmental organizations.
At the beginning of the event, Ira Panosyan, Head of the Department of Agricultural programs elaboration, resource use and cooperative development of the RA Ministry of Economy, and Ashot Giloyan, Head of the Department of Local self-government policy of the RA Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure, greeted the participants and wished them productive work.

The speakers welcomed the initiative of organizing the online Workshop in the current difficult conditions, and also emphasized the importance of the Platform activities, noting in particular the work being done to finalize the concept of sustainable pasture management.

During the workshop, the current programs of the Platform and the work plan for 2021 and further actions related to it were presented. During the event, the work that was carried out with regard to elaboration of the “Description of Sustainable Pasture Management Institutional Framework” implemented with the support of the German International Cooperation Agency (GIZ) and development of a methodological guide for “Implementation of powers and duties of the local self-government bodies in the sustainable pasture management” was presented.

The Coordiantion platform for programs aimed at sustainable management of RA natural fodder areas, pastures and grasslands is the joint initiative of the Strategic Development Agency (SDA) NGO, the program “Management of natural resources and safeguarding of ecosystem services for sustainable rural development in the South Caucasus” (ECOserve) implemented by GIZ, as well as the 2nd CARMAC program implemented by the RA Ministry of Economy with the support of the World Bank.
