On January 24, Minister of Economy of the Republic of Armenia, Gevorg Papoyan, received Caroline Geginat, Head of the World Bank (WB) Country Office in Armenia, and Holger Klei, the WB’s Agriculture and Food Practice Manager for Europe and Central Asia. Deputy Minister Arman Khojoyan also attended the meeting.
Minister Papoyan briefly outlined the current state of Armenian agriculture and highlighted the government’s clear vision for the next decade: transitioning from traditional small-scale production to modern, technologically advanced, market-oriented, and high-value-added agriculture.
He also emphasized the priority goals in the agricultural sector, including land reform, export diversification, digital agriculture and innovation, food security, human capital development, and the establishment of agricultural logistics centers.
“We highly appreciate the World Bank’s commitment to supporting countries in their efforts to transform agricultural systems and enhance food security, and we view the World Bank as a key partner in helping Armenia achieve its agricultural development goals,” Gevorg Papoyan noted.
During the meeting, the most promising areas for expanding and deepening cooperation with the World Bank in the agricultural sector were discussed.
